Be careful while dealing with the loans through credit card. Some one else may fool you and take a loan on your name. Be careful on this. Read the incident which happened some time back here at Powai. Very painful and unnecessary headache.

@J.D.Borkar: Hope the following suggestions will help you.

1. Ask your friend to collect hard/soft copy of the refusal of dispute form for the 3.25lac asap. Bank should give reason of refusal withing 60 days (as per RBI guide lines, Ref. Sec. 7, http://rbidocs.rbi.org.in/rdocs/notification/PDFs/85386.pdf )

2. Also collect the hard copy/soft copy of the acceptance letter of the 0.5lac dispute.

3. He should file a complain with RBI "The Banking Ombudsman Scheme, 2006". Refer the following link.

http://www.rbi.org.in/Scripts/bs_viewcontent.aspx?Id=159

It is better to file an on-line complain at RBI through
https://secweb.rbi.org.in/BO/compltindex.htm

4. I hope, RBI will take up that case seriously and solve that. Else, he will have to take that matter to the court of law.

Good Luck!

My friend has become a credit card fraud victim. Some impersonator stating that he is from ABN AMRO stole the credit card nos. He holds two credit cards of ABN AMRO (now blocked). The fraud amount is around 3.70 lacs. He complained to the bank and lodged local police FIR and lodged complaint with the Cyber crime branch mumbai, who readily accepted the complaints (thanks very much to them) . He filed a charge dispute with the ABN AMRO bank. He recieved a provisional credit for 50500/- on one credit card and bank says that a dispute has been raised with the merchant and investigation is going on. As for the other card the bank is not ready to raise dispute with the merchant and give provisional credit of 3 lac 25 th. The bank advised him to go to the merchant directly or pay up the amt along with interest and charges. When both the transactions on both the cards are identical and totally fraudulent, and no services or anything whatsoever has been received by him from the merchant, why this discrimination from the bank? The police and cyber crime has advised him (my friend) not to approach the merchant ( strictly). He is now in a fix. What should he do? Need your help!

Hi Amit,

I think the bank should give you the details of the transaction. Check that and I suggest you to take up with the court of law for unbiased investigation. Was that an on-line transaction or swipe one? Do check your email. I had sent some suggestions to that.

Hi,
Some fraud transaction has been done against my ICICI Bank credit card.I have fax the despute form to bank and also went to police station for FIR but they have not taken the FIR,they asked me to give the complain in paper. So i have given the complain letter stating that "I have not done these transaction amount of 20,000/- " to local police station.I have also mailed to "headservicequality@icicibank.com" and "customer.care@icicibank.com".

I got the reply "We inform you that in case you dispute a transaction on your ICICI Bank Credit Card, we follow the process universally laid down by VISA / MASTERCARD.
As per the clarification received by the merchant / merchant's bank the dispute has been resolved in bank's favor. We have communicated the same to you. As per your request we have re-looked the issue and inform that the dispute is resolved in bank's favor.

Further, as per the terms and conditions under which the card was issued to and accepted by you, you are liable to make payment for the transaction. The Bank cannot be held responsible for any credit card transaction while the card was in your possession.

We request you to make the payment at the earliest to avoid further financial charges.

Now i am worried what to do now??Please help me....

Dear Aamjunta,

Your entire post on credit card hacking: http://aamjunta.wordpress.com/2009/01/01/new-year-gift-and-hacking/ has been copied verbatim by another site, the address of which is: http://creditduo.com/general/cardcreditshell.html

The person has not only copied your post but has the audacity to also copy the comments on your post by slightly changing the language and some of names of the people who have commented... "<em>anne de plume</em>" has been changed to "<em>anne de feathe</em>r" and so on. He hasn't given any link to the original post.

J<strong>ust copying the contents without consent of the author is illegal and is also a cyber crime. He has violated copyright issues. This should be stopped and should be removed at the earliest. Else, you need to file complaint for copyrights. It was sad to see this blatant scene of plagiarism of a post which claims to fight against cyber crime. </strong>

So thought of sharing this also for public awareness.
